The Arts Are ALIVE in Downtown Salisbury!
We all know that Downtown Salisbury is a great place to Shop, Dine & Discover. But did you know that one of the best things to discover about us is the art? It’s everywhere! There are art galleries, live-work artist studios, public art, artist receptions, and more. Here are just a few highlights – please feel free to share your favorite Downtown artist, gallery, event, etc:
One of our 15 art galleries has an opening reception this Friday, Feb 12, 6-9 p.m. Pottery 101, located at 101 S. Main St., will host “Under the Influence,” featuring works by artists Lou Lefler, Valerie Hawkins, and Cheryl Goins. For more information, contact Pottery 101 at 704-209-1632 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
Waterworks Visual Arts Center, Downtown Salisbury’s art museum, is hosting the Artists’ EXPP 2010, featuring the work of both individual artists and collective artist groups, on April 15-17 in the F&M Trolley Barn, 125 E. Liberty St. Waterworks invites all area artists to participate as one of the many featured artists. For more information or to request an application, please call 704-636-1882 or visit www.waterworks.org.
If you’ve noticed that Downtown seems just a little bit emptier these days, that may be because most of the art of the First Annual Salisbury Sculpture Show has been removed. But rest assured that the 2010 Salisbury Sculpture Show is well under way! Nineteen original sculptures have been selected and will be installed around Downtown at the end of March. The show will be up April-December this year. You can follow the progress at www.salisburysculpture.com.
